Jonathan Punter

Jonathan Punter, Chairman

Jonathan PunterPrior to forming Punter Southall with Stuart Southall in 1988, Jonathan began his actuarial career with Duncan C Fraser and Co in 1978, making his way to partner within seven years before Mercer acquired the company.

With more than 20 years' experience in the actuarial profession – and with particular expertise in the areas of UK pensions and investment strategy - Jonathan is also a recognised specialist on issues surrounding pensions in mergers, buy-outs and due diligence deals.

A director of several investment companies in London and Dublin and co-author of "Pensions Issues in Mergers and Acquisitions" (Longman), Jonathan is a fellow of The Institute of Actuaries, a scheme actuary, member of Institute working parties and a speaker at seminars and conferences.

He also has extensive experience of acting as an expert witness in a wide range of situations and cases, particularly on matters surrounding pensions, investments and employee benefits. Jonathan has a mathematics degree from Bristol University.

Mike Faulkner

Mike Faulkner, Chief Executive Officer

Mike FaulknerMike founded P-Solve in 2001 and has 19 years of consulting and asset management experience to draw on. After senior roles with Towers Perrin and Gensec International, he started the company to offer pro-active, effective and strategic advice to trustees and corporate clients.

He has worked in a wide range of areas from the development of financial objectives to investment management, on which his approach is consistently thought-provoking, challenging and industry-leading. Under his direction, P-Solve became the first institutional advisors in the UK to offer fiduciary management to pension schemes.

His innovative methods led Financial News to rank Mike as number one in the category of Europe's most influential asset managers. He was also included in the overall top ten in its FN100 Most Influential annual survey.

As Chief Executive, Mike is one of the primary driving forces behind P-Solve's growth and performance. A maths graduate from Imperial College, he is from Newcastle.

Angus Samuels

Angus Samuels, Deputy Chairman

Angus SamuelsCurrently chairman of P-Solve's parent company, Punter Southall Group, Angus has more than 30 years experience in the investment industry both in the UK and his home country of South Africa.

He began as a stockbroker and partner in Fergusson Bros. Hall Stewart & Co before emigrating to Britain in 1986 and went on to hold a number of senior positions in the investment industry.

These included chief executive posts at Sanwa and Credit Suisse asset management. In 1999, he returned to South Africa as chief executive of Sanlam Investment Management, the investment arm of Sanlam: the country's second largest asset manager.

Angus holds a number of non-executive directorships including Sanlam UK, Sanlam Life and Pensions, Intrinsic Financial Services, Nucleus Financial Group, and Principal Investment Management.

Jack Berry

Jack Berry, Director

Jack BerryThe last 25 years has seen Jack work across the full range of finance and investment banking including the development of structured products for institutional pension clients. In particular, he has led significant work on the use of derivatives in liability-driven investments.

He established P-Solve's client-specific solutions approach in 2004 and has brought his considerable international experience to bear when structuring transactions across different countries and regions.

A key point-of-call for advice and counsel for trustees and sponsors, Jack started his career with Ernst & Young and then Standard Chartered Bank before running his own corporate finance business in Zimbabwe, where he was brought up. A qualified Chartered Accountant, he also has a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.

Kenneth McKelvey

Kenneth McKelvey, Director

Kenneth McKelveyKenneth graduated from City University with a degree in Actuarial Science and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

He worked in a large UK pensions consultancy before taking an MBA at INSEAD and then worked in financial management and corporate strategy consulting in Geneva, London and Paris.

Kenneth joined Punter Southall in 1993 with a particular focus on widening the range of our activities. He remains responsible for the strategic development of Punter Southall Group, is Group Managing Director and a director of its principal operating subsidiaries.

Glyn Jones

Glyn Jones, Director

Glyn JonesAs Chief Investment Officer of P-Solve, Glyn is responsible for the quality and suitability of all investment services offered to P-Solve's clients. This is achieved by the oversight of, and participation in, P-Solve's investment decision making framework.

He joined the financial services industry in 1992 and has experience in consulting, asset management and derivatives trading. Particular specialisms include asset allocation, structuring of derivatives and risk management. He has expertise in the application of a wide range of investment products and instruments and has worked in a wide range of fields designing and implementing investment solutions for pension schemes, insurance companies, retail product issuers and corporate clients.

Glyn chairs P-Solve's Investment Committee and sits on P-Solve's Derivatives Policy Committee, Fiduciary Management Committee and Investment Strategy Committee.
